Peak Performance Basketball Elite Presents:
The 2006 AAU “Hoops for Health” Girls’ Basketball Tournament
and Health Fair June 9-11

Peak Performance Basketball Elite will host the 2006 Hoops for Health Basketball Tournament the weekend of June 9, 2006.  The event is an annual AAU tournament for girls ages 11-14.   The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sports Medicine Program, Amerigroup Community Care, as well as local pediatricians and a licensed sports medicine nutritionist will host a free sports health fair during the tournament at Samson’s Health and Fitness Center of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.   Nike will showcase the latest in shoes and apparel and provide uniforms to the winning teams.

WHO: Girls basketball teams from around the southeastern and mid-Atlantic states; Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sports Medicine staff and certified athletic trainers;  a licensed sports medicine nutritionist;  Amerigroup Community Care healthcare professionals;  local pediatricians and representatives from Nike.

WHAT: In an effort to increase awareness of the importance of staying active and healthy,  as well as educating athletes and parents about injury prevention,  Peak Performance Basketball Elite will host the 2006 Hoops for Health Basketball Tournament and Health Fair.   The event is an annual AAU tournament for girls ages 11-14.   We are expecting 300 plus players and more than 20 teams to register for the event!

In addition to the weekend-long tournament,  guests will enjoy a free sports health fair on Friday and Saturday at Samson’s Health and Fitness Center of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.   At the health fair, guests can consult with certified athletic trainers from the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Sports Medicine Program;  visit Amerigroup Community Care for a free health screening and/or finger printing:  listen to sports nutrition seminar from a licensed nutritionist,  and discuss injury prevention with local pediatricians.
